The album “Arum” is the second edition of the project “Voruth” from the Lebanese music producer/composer Marwan Antonios.
It was selected for an artist residency in France at “Cité internationale des arts” Paris, where it is being composed, mixed and mastered.
The development and shaping of its sonic identity began back in Lebanon in early 2008, by experimenting with different software synthesizers and instruments.
Unlike the previous album, this one draws its influences not only from ambient music, but also from multiple electronic and non-electronic genres, all while keeping the same spirit and pushing the productions quality forward.
It deals with subjects such as life, loss, grief, and its main goal is to help people cope with heavy emotions by creating sort of a sonic ship that will hopefully guide them to a better place.
The album will stretch up to 45 minutes and will consist of 14 instrumental tracks.
It all began in the year 2014 when a dear place to my heart burnt to ashes. The woods of my home village Baabda.
These woods were a haven where I would get lost for countless hours, contemplating beautiful landscapes, seeking inspiration, peace of mind and meeting with my loved one.
After this incident, I found myself feeling a certain homelessness and sense of loss. So came to me the idea of a fictional world of ambient electronic music and fantastic natural sceneries that recreates and honors the memory of what once was.
This sonic-musical projection is “Voruth” a sanctuary not only for me, but for every one that chooses to listen and to get carried away by the project’s atmospheric pads and ambient melodies.
